Aron Andersson joins Handiscover as brand ambassador
Welcome to our new brand ambassador – Aron Andersson
We are thrilled to welcome our new brand ambassador, Aron Andersson. Aron is an adventurer and one of Sweden’s most popular speakers.
About Aron Andersson
Diagnosed with cancer as a child, Aron was nine years old when he underwent surgery and ended up in a wheelchair. During his long rehabilitation period, Aron read a lot about the adventurer Ola Skinnarmo and his expedition to Antarctica. Fascinated, he followed the expedition, and as a ten year old boy confined to his bed, he only dared to dream about making the same journey.
Fast forward to 2016 and with much determination, Aron realised his dream as he journeyed 300 kilometres across Antarctica to the South Pole in a sit ski. His expedition, aptly named ‘Pole of Hope’ raised funds for the Swedish Childhood Cancer Foundation, where Aron is a proud ambassador.
Aron made the decision as a child to not allow his wheelchair to stop him, but rather to see what opportunities it could provide – and he certainly has a long list of achievements to his name! Aron has travelled the world and pushed himself in extreme situations, both physically and mentally. His track record includes:
- Being the first person in a wheelchair to climb Kebnekaise
- Participating in 4 Paralympics in 3 different sports
- Winning 10 gold medals in the World Junior Championships in Athletics
- Skiing Vasaloppet 3 times
- Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro
- Completing a Swedish Classic in under 24 hours
- Completing an Ironman
- Winning the Wings for Life World Run Kalmar
Aron is a true inspiration and we are so excited to have him join us as part of our exciting journey. We’ll be sharing Aron’s accessible experiences and travels via our blog. Meanwhile, to learn more about Aron and his adventures visit http://aronanderson.se/en/about/
